Guitar Amps Home > Guitar Amp Reviews Guitar Amp Reviews are Readily AvailableGuitar amp reviews are a good source of information when buying this equipment, but there are some things you should keep in mind. It is important to look at more than one source of information for guitar amp reviews Start with brand name guitar amp reviews. Whether you know anything about guitar amps One problem with guitar amp reviews is that the features important to the reviewer aren't always going to be important to you. Create a chart to help evaluate the reviews. Make a list of the features you want, then read the reviews making note of what the reviewer said about those features. This can help you apply guitar amp reviews directly to your needs. You also have to distinguish between professional and consumer guitar amp reviews. Professional reviews are written by people who were paid to try out the equipment and write the review. Consumer reviews are written by people who have used the guitar amps and have an opinion they are willing to share with others. Many manufacturers also post reviews on their company website. The problem with this is that they'll post only positive guitar amp reviews. You'll find consumer reviews at www.harmony-central.com. Musician's Friend is another source of information about musical instruments, including guitar amps. You'll find a link to "hands on reviews" at www.musiciansfriend.com. If you can't find what you are looking for online, your local music store is a great source of information. While there won't likely be written guitar amp reviews, the salesperson there should be willing to listen to your needs and at least help you get started in the right direction. Keep in mind that guitar amp reviews are opinions and in the end the most important guitar amp review you can have is your own. Mark Knopfler's Guitars
I know that some of my readers are very interested in Mark Knopfler and his guitars. For those of you who don't know, Mark was part of the very successful Dire Straits band of the 80s. Mark is particularly reverred by guitar fans, because he has an almost genius-like ability with the guitar. He even prefers to finger [...] WorkshopLive Announces Over 1000 Lessons

Jamming fans prepare for Guitar Hero 2! Due out in November this year, this is the sequel to the highly successful original, Guitar Hero. Originally spawned in the arcades, this game features a guitar-like controller. Fret position is not imporant, but timing is, so this is actually a useful aid for a guitar novice who wants to [...] 14 Minute Video Guitar Chords lesson
I have been singing the praises of Dan Denleys guitar courses - AmazingGuitar, BluesGuitar, LeadGuitar and AcousticGuitar for some time now. The link to the Acoustic course has been displaying "Sold Out" for some weeks now, but it is being relaunched tomorrow, Fri 14th March at 11 a.m. Eastern time. To celebrate the relaunch, Dan has given me a POWERFUL, 14 minute free video lesson crammed with incredible info about guitar CHORDS to share with my Blog readers. In this video you'll discover: -> How chords are related to scales... -> Why some chords are maj, minor, dom, etc. -> What guitarists mean when they say... "two chord" or "five chord" etc. -> Which chords come from the major scale -> The difference between a triad and a 7th chord... ...and a LOT more. You can watch it here right now: 14 Minute Guitar Chords Lesson - From Dan Denley's AcousticGuitarSecrets course This video shows extracts of Dan's Acoustic Guitar Secrets course, which is fast becoming THE standard for learning acoustic guitar. The course completely sold out when it was released back in December, hence the unavailable message you will have seen if you clicked the link recently. Now, *finally* it's going to be available again, remember it's tomorrow: Fri, Mar 14 at 11AM (eastern). Oh - and you can also download this video and watch on your iPod. Just look for the "iPod" link. I own a copy of this course, and it has done more to improve my guitar playing than anything I've tried in the past 20 years. Seriously. I would strongly advise anyone who REALLY wants to be a "Guitar Player" to grab a copy of the course, you won't regret it. But get in early, I have a feeling that the "Sold Out" signs will be back up fairly soon, also Dan is making noises about splitting the course into 3 seperate courses, which will almost certainly increase the cost. Either ways, you can enjoy the free 14-minute video lesson at: 14 Minute Guitar Chords Lesson - From Dan Denley's AcousticGuitarSecrets course More song chords from me very soon!! Enjoy your music! This tip comes from Chris Elmore, the mastermind behind ElmoreMusic, who provide GuitarTips, Guitar Backing Tracks, Guitar Leads, GuitarSongs and GuitarTheory resources. This is quite a basic tip, but for learning guitarists it is one of the early hurdles which can stop you in your tracks. Most early learners try to avoid Barre chords, and 'learn around' them - but if you want to be a Guitar Player - barre chords are something you must master Check out the tip at this link: How to Hold a Barre Chord Enjoy your music, P.J. Many of us have been sitting around a camp fire, singing with the others while someone else was playing the guitar and wished to be the on who was playing. Being able to play the guitar can make people look up to you, especially when you're a teenager. You are often invited to parties by [...] How to play "Blue Star" ( Shadows )
This latest tip also comes from Chris Elmore, CEO of Elmore Music ( creators of GuitarTips, Guitar Backing Tracks and Guitar Songs, among other great guitar learning sites and resources.) Chris shows you - with guitar tab, audio and video, how to play a really neat but tricky guitar song - "Blue Star" by the Shadows. While you may not be a huge Shadows fan, the approach to learning demonstrated here will be helpful to you, as Chris breaks the song down into bite-size components, for easier learning. There is the expected melodic guitar line that typifies the Shadows' work, but also the chord patterns which fit in to the mix for you to learn. The techniques learned here can be applied to other songs you might be more familiar with, but this is quite a challenging lesson, these guitar tunes were always 'show-off' numbers. Who knows, maybe you will be adding it as one of your 'party pieces'! Check out this in-depth lesson, and learn the song at: How to Play 'Blue Star. Enjoy your music, P.J.
