Acoustic Guitar Amp - Why So Popular?

Choosing the Right Acoustic Guitar Amp

The acoustic guitar amp is becoming more popular. There was a time that a person who played a bar, club or lounge just got loud to hold the attention of the patrons. The acoustic guitar amp can help the one-man act on stage in the murmuring coffee house be heard.

The acoustic guitar amp has a wider range of options now than it did several years ago. This is thanks partly to the economy, but largely to musicians like Jewel and Jack Black. These artists have proven their ability to be loud, but they started out in coffee houses playing lightly for the customers drinking coffee and daydreaming.

The acoustic guitar amp can be found in most music shops and online at various retailers. For instance, you can look up an acoustic guitar amp at www.acousticguitar.com. This site, Acoustic Guitar Central, has several different brands and makes of the acoustic guitar amp. You'll even find lists of some of the amps they don't carry and how to find them.

The acoustic guitar amp price range is much like any other guitar amp. You can spend just a couple hundred dollars and come away with an Ibanez Troubador, or you can spend over two and a half thousand dollars and get a German designed Aer Acousticube. Some are small and easily portable for smaller rooms where sound doesn't have to carry over clattering trays and the idle chit chat, but there are the larger models, looking more like something that The Rolling Stones would have on stage.

The acoustic guitar amp you're looking for may need to be for more than just your acoustic gig. You can find double duty amps that will work for your acoustic and electric guitars.

But the price range for these tends to be much higher and for the price you might be just as well off to buy the acoustic guitar amp you want and the electric one as well and just lug the two around with you. The acoustic guitar amp you choose should be a reflection of what you think people should see of you onstage or what you want to hear when you are playing with your friends.

Learn Guitar in only Seven Minutes!
There is a lady named Jean Welles who claims to be able to teach guitar to almost anyone in only seven minutes, yes 7 minutes to learn how to play the guitar! A teacher for over thirty years, Welles says: "Even if you have never picked up or played any instrument before, I can teach you the [...]
How to play "Blue Star" ( Shadows )
This latest tip also comes from Chris Elmore, CEO of Elmore Music ( creators of GuitarTips, Guitar Backing Tracks and Guitar Songs, among other great guitar learning sites and resources.)

Chris shows you - with guitar tab, audio and video, how to play a really neat but tricky guitar song - "Blue Star" by the Shadows.

While you may not be a huge Shadows fan, the approach to learning demonstrated here will be helpful to you, as Chris breaks the song down into bite-size components, for easier learning. There is the expected melodic guitar line that typifies the Shadows' work, but also the chord patterns which fit in to the mix for you to learn. The techniques learned here can be applied to other songs you might be more familiar with, but this is quite a challenging lesson, these guitar tunes were always 'show-off' numbers.

Who knows, maybe you will be adding it as one of your 'party pieces'!

Check out this in-depth lesson, and learn the song at: How to Play 'Blue Star.

Enjoy your music,

Regular readers will know Chris as the maestro behind Elmore Music, which has previously produced Guitar Tips, Guitar Songs, Guitar Backing Tracks, and Speed Guitar Learning - some of the best guitarist resources on the planet.

14 Minute Video Guitar Chords lesson
I have been singing the praises of Dan Denleys guitar courses - AmazingGuitar, BluesGuitar, LeadGuitar and AcousticGuitar for some time now. The link to the Acoustic course has been displaying "Sold Out" for some weeks now, but it is being relaunched tomorrow, Fri 14th March at 11 a.m. Eastern time. To celebrate the relaunch, Dan has given me a POWERFUL, 14 minute free video lesson crammed with incredible info about guitar CHORDS to share with my Blog readers. In this video you'll discover:

-> How chords are related to scales...

-> Why some chords are maj, minor, dom, etc.

-> What guitarists mean when they say... "two
chord" or "five chord" etc.

-> Which chords come from the major scale

-> The difference between a triad and a 7th
chord...

...and a LOT more.

You can watch it here right now:

14 Minute Guitar Chords Lesson - From Dan Denley's AcousticGuitarSecrets course

This video shows extracts of Dan's Acoustic Guitar Secrets course,
which is fast becoming THE standard for learning acoustic guitar.
The course completely sold out when it was released back in December,
hence the unavailable message you will have seen if you clicked the
link recently.

Now, *finally* it's going to be available again, remember it's
tomorrow: Fri, Mar 14 at 11AM (eastern).

Oh - and you can also download this video and watch on your iPod.
Just look for the "iPod" link.

I own a copy of this course, and it has done more to improve my
guitar playing than anything I've tried in the past 20 years.
Seriously. I would strongly advise anyone who REALLY wants to be
a "Guitar Player" to grab a copy of the course, you won't regret
it. But get in early, I have a feeling that the "Sold Out" signs
will be back up fairly soon, also Dan is making noises about
splitting the course into 3 seperate courses, which will almost
certainly increase the cost.

Either ways, you can enjoy the free 14-minute video lesson at:

Play Guitar Backwards!
Once again, a tip from Chris Elmore, owner/creater of ElmoreMusic, and co-owner with myself of GuitarBackingTracks

This is a brilliant article/lesson, with tab, sound and video, where Chris shows you how to play some really fancy and nifty riffs on lead guitar. Just watching Chris's hand movements as he switches between standard and "backward" fretting with his left hand makes you want to stop what you're doing and try that out right away!!

I'm not a lead guitarist myself, but I find with the help of the lessons ( like this one ) generously made available to my Blog readers by Chris and others, I'm starting to surprise my friends at our jam sessions. The look of astonishment on their faces when I add in a nifty lead break on one of the other players' numbers is priceless!

Check out the tip at this link: How to play Your Guitar with your hand 'Backwards'

BTW, Chris has offered a great deal to my Blog readers - lifetime subscription to his fantastic Guitar Tips learning program for an unbelievable $27 ( it was already a steal at $49.95 ).

Dan Denley, the mastermind behind THE greatest and most comprehensive online learning programs: AmazingGuitarSecrets, BluesGuitar Secrets, and just recently, LeadGuitarSecrets. has kindly agreed to supply a set of articles and mini-lessons for my GuitarTips Blog ( Thanks Dan! )

This tip shows how you can improve your guitar playing immensely, using strength training exercises which will only take 10 minutes out of your day. These exercises are ideal as a precursor to either guitar practice, or actually performing live.

I hope you will enjoy and benefit from Dan's expertise, see the link below:

Dan has very recently released a fantastic new resource, Lead Guitar Secrets, which contains everything you could possibly need to help you become an accomplished Lead Guitar Player.

I was privileged to receive an advance copy of the full course - I told Dan that if it didn't live up to the high standards of his previous works, I could not, in all conscience, give it a review, much less a 'thumbs up'. But, as I might have guessed, he has exceeded himself once again - this is the most complete and well-presented instruction set I have EVER seen for lead guitar players, whether at the early stages of learning or for the already proficient player.

There are 4 DVD's with video and audio lessons, backed up by a 200 page detailed instruction manual with music notation as well as tab for each of the lessons, PLUS a CD-ROM tutorial AND an audio CD full of backing tracks to help you to practice your new-found skills.

If you're convinced, or would like to find out more about the course, go straight to the launch page at the link below:

Lead Guitar Secrets - Everything you need to know about playing Lead Guitar

Meanwhile, Dan has kindly supplied me with a condensed version of one of the lessons from the Amazing Guitar Secrets course, which you can check out at: Amazing Guitar Secrets
